Curriculum vitae

Born in Modena on June 23rd 1957, MD, PhD, Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology, Faculty of Psychology, University of Bologna. “Clinical Methodology” and “Laboratory of Clinical Psychology” courses, Degree in Clinical Psychology, Faculty of Psychology, University of Bologna and “Theory and Techniques of Clinical Consultation” and “Psychosomatics” courses, Speciality School in Clinical Psychology and Speciality School in Health Psychology, Department of Psychology, University of Bologna. Head of Attachment Assessment Lab (AAL), Department of Psychology, University of Bologna.

Winner in 1987 of Italian Psychosomatic Medicine Society (SIMP) 1st prize for his researches on psychosomatic urology. His scientific activity focuses on Clinical Psychology and Psychosomatic areas and on the study of attachment. In particular, his works deal with following topics:

1)psychological suffering, couple relationship and parental functions during pregnancy and post-natal period;

2)psychosomatic assessment and researches on effects of psychological variables on pathogenesis, evolution and treatment of medical disorders (cardiovascular, urologic, obstetric-gynaecologic, gastrointestinal, and dermathologic);

3)treatments and training problems in Psychosomatics;

4)eating disorders in adolescence and young adults;

5)emotional and relational problems in family mediation and in family therapy;

6)study and assessment of attachment in life span and in clinical conditions;

7)development of new methods for the assessment of attachment and reflective function. In particular, the Attachment Movie Test (AMT), a test based on the vision of short films referring to AAI items, and the Reflective Function in the Family (RFF), a systemic theory oriented test for the study of mentalization in family therapy, based on the analysis and codifying of the transcript of the session.

Founder member of the International Association for the Study of Attachment (IASA). From 2000 he organizes workshops and congresses on Dynamic-Maturational Model of Attachment (DMM) (from these, the 1st Biennial Conference of  IASA, Bertinoro, 5-7 October 2008, the 2nd Biennial Conference of  IASA, Cambridge, UK, 28-31 August 2010, and the 3rd Biennial Conference of IASA: Attachment, Assessment and treatment: the DMM approach, Frankfurt, Germany, September 14-16, 2012 )) and he is also a reliable codifier of Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) in DMM perspective and the author of many books on psychosomatics and on attachment.

He is reviewer of the following scientific journals: Giornale di Psicologia, Psicologia Clinica dello Sviluppo, Rassegne di Psicologia, BioMed Central Psychiatry (BMC Psychiatry), Psychological reports, DMM News.
