-Graduated in Biological Sciences (110/110 cum laude) at the University of Bologna (20/10/1999); final dissertation: "Standardization of a PCR-ELISA assay for the diagnosis of parvovirus B19 infection.

-September 2000 - December 2000: Reasearch Fellowship for the "Study of the pathogenic role of adeno-associated parvovirus and autonomous parvovirus" at the Section of Microbiology, Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, University of Bologna.

-PhD in Medical Biotechnology at the University of Bologna (23/05/2005); final dissertation: "Molecular analysis of the in vitro expression of parvovirus B19”.

-January 2005 - September 2005: the research activity was focused on the theme: "Development of chemiluminescent immunoassays and PCR assays for detection of microorganisms, viruses, and their products in food matrices” at the University of Bologna.
