I am the current PI of the lab of Computational Genomics at the University of Bologna. Broadly speaking, we develop and apply Bioinformatics methods to understand biological mechanisms.
We favor a hybrid experimental/computation, based on my educational background (BSc in Molecular Biology, MSc in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, PhD in Bioinformatics) and on the current goals of the lab.
Current Lab Topics:
- Gene Networks
- Transcriptomics of Human Disease
- Phylogenomics
- Machine learning on -omics data
Main career steps:
- 2021- : Associate Professor at University of Bologna, Italy (transcriptomics)
- 2018-2021 : Assistant Professor at University of Bologna, Italy (single-cell transcriptomics)
- 2016-2017: Cambridge University, CRUK-CI Institute, United Kingdom (early prediction of lung cancer)
- 2013-2016: Columbia University, New York, USA (cancer gene networks)
- 2012-2013: Institute of Applied Genomics, Udine, Italy (next generation sequencing, algorithm development)
- 2008-2011: PhD at Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology, Golm, Germany (gene networks in Arabidopsis and other model plants)
