MAIN RESEARCH TOPICS

Human adult stem cells and role of new stimuli on cell proliferation, differentiation and senescence

The purpose of research is:

1. To isolate adult stem cells from different human sources in order to obtain an optimal cellular product to be used both as an experimental model in vitro and in vivo for regenerative medicine techniques;

2. To evaluate the effects of different stimuli (chemical and physical) on biology of human adult stem cells.

Genomic and post-genomic study of human genes

1. Genomic and post-genomic study of the human genes RCAN3 (Regulator of Calcineurin 3) and CYYR1 (Cysteine and Tyrosine rich 1): analysis of the gene locus, study of expression, functional analysis.

2. Use of zebrafish as model for the functional study of human orthologous genes

RESEARCH GRANTS

In order to carry out her research, Dr. Facchin participated as a member in research projects funded by: the Lejeune Foundation (Paris), by the Scientific Research Program of Relevant National Interest (PRIN) and by the strategic plan "young researchers". She also collaborated on projects founded by the “Del Monte” Foundation of Bologna and Ravenna and by the “Cassa di Risparmio” Foundation of Bologna.

SCIENTIFIC PUBBLICATIONS

44 International papers in extenso; 30 abstracts at National and International congress.
