 1985   Graduated in Chemistry at the University of Bologna 
 1985-1987 Staff member in the Research & Development Laboratory of a food industry. 
 1987-1989 Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Bologna (3 months at the University of Bern).  
 1989-1998 Research technician in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Bologna. 
 1997 Raffaello Nasini Prize (Inorganic Division of the Italian Chemical Society) for studies on intermolecular interactions in organometallic solids. 
 1998-2004 Associate Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Sassari
 2004-2014 Associate Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Bologna 
 2014-  Full Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Bologna

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

Author of more than 400 publications in international journals and books; invited speaker at more than 70 seminars, conferences, and schools at national and international level.

Member of the Editorial Board of the New Journal of Chemistry (Royal Society of Chemistry) (2007–2012).

Reviewer for numerous international journals, including Chemical Communications, Dalton Transactions, CrystEngComm, Angewandte Chemie, Chemistry – A European Journal, Organometallics, Crystal Growth & Design, and Nature Chemistry, as well as for national and international research funding agencies.

Principal Investigator for research contracts and collaborations with Alfasigma S.p.A. on solid-state studies and patent-related issues, with significant impact on both fundamental research and career-oriented training through the funding of postdoctoral research fellowships and the co-funding of PhD scholarships.

Co-founder of PolyCrystalLine S.p.A., established as a university spin-off, specializing in solid-state issues, primarily in the field of pharmaceutical solids.

Long-standing member of the organizing committee of the international workshop Crystal Forms@Bo (the 13th edition was held in September 2025), which brings together academic and industrial researchers working on crystal engineering of molecular solids.

TEACHING AND INSTITUTIONAL ACTIVITIES

University teaching experience (past and present) in General Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, Pigment Chemistry, and Materials Chemistry with Laboratory.

Lecturer in international summer schools (Brazil, Finland, and Switzerland) on polymorphism in molecular solids.

Supervisor of Bachelor's and Master's theses; PhD supervisor at the University of Bologna and for international doctoral students.

External examiner for PhD final examinations at the Universities of Joensuu (Finland), Oviedo (Spain), Oulu (Finland), Parma, Turin, Insubria (Como, Italy), Lisbon (Portugal), KU Leuven (Belgium), Berlin (Germany), and São Paulo (Brazil). Reviewer of numerous international PhD dissertations.

Coordinator of chemistry outreach activities in secondary schools and at public engagement events, including the Genoa Science Festival and the Golinelli Foundation (Bologna).

Since 2023, involved in outreach activities in schools through the association ParliamoneOra, with particular emphasis on gender equality in STEM disciplines.

November 2013 – October 2019: Coordinator of the Master's Degree Programme in Photochemistry and Molecular Materials.

2022–2024: Member of the Joint Committee of Students and Faculty (Commissione Paritetica) of the School of Science.

2024–present: Chair of the Departmental Joint Committee of Students and Faculty.

2024–present: Member of the Faculty Board of the PhD Programme in Nanoscience for Medicine and the Environment.
