Ezio Mesini

Short Bio

Ezio Mesini (1956) graduated in Mining Engineering at the University of Bologna in 1981. In 1983 he is a university researcher in the field of hydrocarbons and underground fluids. Subsequently, he became associate (2000) and full professor (2004).

Currently, he focuses his research both on technical, environmental and administrative issues associated with the use of fossil fuels, and on safety in offshore areas.

In 2017 he has been appointed  President of the Committee for the Safety of Sea Operations by the President of the Italian Council of Ministers. He is in charge up to 2024 (see parliamentary hearings to the competent committees of the "Camera" and "Senate").

In 2021 he was awarded the title of Grand Officer - of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by the President of the Republic.

In December 2023 he was appointed Scientific Advisor of the Italian Navy for the scientific discipline (biennium 2024-25).

Office hours

 Professor Mesini receives students throughout the year by appointment by email (ezio.mesini@unibo.it). During the course of the lessons, he is also available at the end of each lesson o In this regard, the timetables can be consulted for the degree at: https://corsi.unibo.it/laurea/IngegneriAmbienTerritorio/orario-lezioni and for the master's degree at: https://corsi.unibo.it/ master / IngegneriAmbienteTerritorio / time lessons .

In the periods in which no lessons are held, Prof. Mesini normally receives on Tuesdays at 10.30, unless he is engaged in activity research or for institutional commitments outside the office. For this reason, it is always recommended to make an e-mail appointment. Students can be received also be fixing on other days, always by appointment, both in presence at the DICAM (Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering, in Via Terracini 28 - Bologna, 2nd floor, room 2-50) and in remote by using TEAMS online platform.
