Ezio Mesini (1956) graduated in Mining Engineering at the University of Bologna in 1981. In 1983 he is university researcher in the field of hydrocarbons and underground fluids. Subsequently, he became associate (2000) and full professor (2004).
In 2017 he has been appointed President of the Committee for the Safety of Sea Operations by the President of the Italian Council of Ministers. He is in charge up to 2027 (see last parliamentary hearings to the competent committees of the Camera).
In 2021 he was awarded the title of Grand Officer - of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by the President of the Republic.
In December 2023 he was appointed Scientific Advisor of the Italian Navy for the scientific discipline (biennium 2024-25). Since 2024 he has been a professor of "Energy and Environmental Ethics" at the Military Academy of Modena.
In September 2025, he was appointed Chairman of the Committee for the Development of CO2 Capture and Geological Storage, established within the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security as the competent authority in accordance with the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 162/2011.
