Short Bio

Ezio MESINI (1956) graduated in Mining Engineering at the University of Bologna in 1981.  In 1983 he is a researcher of the University of Bologna. Since 2007 he has been an ordinary professor of hydrocarbons and underground fluids (ING / IND-30). From 2015 until today he is President of the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna.

Currently, he focuses its research on one hand  the technical and environmental issues associated with the use of fossil fuels and on the other hand on the safety issues related to offshore hydrocarbons exploration/production.  In addition, he has scientific interest in environmental ethics and technology history.

Since 2017 he has been appointed President of the Italian Committee for the Safety of Sea (see Parliament hearing of 14-th March 2017). The mandate was conferred for three years and purely honorable.

Office hours

Prof. Mesini receives students at the end of each class of its own "Lessons" ( See Timetable of the lessons).

In addition, during periods when classes are not held, prof. Mesini, if not busy for research engagements outdoor,  usually receives students on Tuesday (9:30 a.m.) at:
