Short Bio

Ezio Mesini (1956) graduated in Mining Engineering at the University of Bologna in 1981 and in the same year he obtained his degree in the engineer profession. In 1983 he is a university researcher in the field of hydrocarbons and underground fluids. In 2000 he is associate professor. In 2004 he became full professor of hydrocarbons and underground fluids (ING/IND-30). He serves the Department of Civil Engineering, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering and Materials (DICAM) of the University of Bologna.  

Currently, he focuses its research as well as on the issue of technical and environmental problems related to the use of fossil fuels, on that of the safety aspects of operations related to the production of hydrocarbons in offshore areas.

In 2017 he has been appointed  President of the Committee for the Safety of Sea Operations by the President of the Italian Council of Ministers.  The President's mandate was conferred for three years and purely honorable.

In 2018, on the proposal of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, he was conferred by the President of the Republic the honor of Commander - Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

Office hours

Prof. Mesini receives students at the end of each class of its own "Lessons" ( See Timetable of the lessons).

In addition, during periods when classes are not held, prof. Mesini, if not busy for research engagements outdoor,  usually receives students on Tuesday (9:30 a.m.) at:

DICAM  (second floor room 2-050) Via Terracini 28,  Bologna

 Anyway, it is always possible to fix appropriate appointments, to be requested in person or by e-mail.
