Ernesto Salzano is an Associate Professor of Chemical Plant Design at the University of Bologna from 2015. His main research activities are related to the experimental and numerical analysis of deflagrative combustion phenomena (including fires and explosions), process safety, and the analysis of risks of critical infrastructures derived from external events as natural disasters (Natural-Technological Interaction), domino effects or terrorist attacks.
From 1995 to 2015 he has been permanent researcher at the Italian National Research Council (CNR), where he has been in charge of the explosion lab and of the Italian Centre of Competence on Industrial Risks, sponsored by the Italian Civil Protection.
