Short Bio

Ernesto Salzano is Full Professor of Chemical Plant Design, Director of the Studies for Chemical and Process Engineering, and academic board member for the Ph.D. in Future Earth, Climate Change and Societal Challenge at the University of Bologna.

From 2015 to 2022 he has been Associate Professor of Chemical Plant Design at the same University .

From 1995 to 2015 he has been a Researcher at the Italian National Research Council (CNR), where he has been in charge of the explosion lab and of the Italian Centre of Competence on Industrial Risks, oc the Italian Civil Protection. His main research activities are related to the deflagrative and detonative combustion phenomena (including fires and explosions), runaway reactions, process safety, and the risks of critical infrastructures from external events such as natural disasters, domino effects, and security.

The results achieved in the scientific activity are documented by more than 250 publications in scientific journals, conference proceedings, and books.
