Short Bio

Ernesto Salzano is an Associate Professor of Chemical Plant Design at the University of Bologna from 2015. From 2020 he is the Director of the Chemical and Process Engineering courses, and the deputy of the Guidance and Tutoring  of the Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering Department. He is also a member of the academic board member for the PhD in Future Earth, Climate Change and Societal Challenge, University of Bologna

From 1995 to 2015 he has been permanent researcher at the Italian National Research Council (CNR), where he has been in charge of the explosion lab and of the Italian Centre of Competence on Industrial Risks, sponsored by the Italian Civil Protection.His main research activities are related to the deflagrative and detonative combustion phenomena (including fires and explosions), runaway reactions, process safety, and the risks of critical infrastructures from external events as rs (natural disaster, domino effects, security).

The results achieved in the scientific activity are documented by more than 250 publications in scientific journals, conference proceedings and books (H-Index Scopus = 33,  Dec 2020).
