Curriculum vitae

Academic position

- Adjunct Professor of the course "Archeogenetics" (SSD BIO/08) within the master's degree course in "History, Preservation and Enhancement of Artistic and Archaeological Heritage and Landscape", University of Bologna.

- Lab technician Cat. D at the Department of Cultural Heritage, University of Bologna, assigned at the Laboratory of Ancient DNA, with special function to support teaching and research.

Education

2004-2009: University of Bologna, PhD in Environmental Sciences, Protection and Management of Natural Resources.

1997-2003: University of Bologna, Degree in Environmental Sciences, specialization in marine biotechnology.

Research interests

DNA analysis of ancient samples for the study and understanding of archaeological contexts and remains. In particular, research interests are aimed at reconstructing the population dynamics of human communities, studying the origin and spread of infectious and genetic diseases and determining age and cause of death, sex and possible kinship between inhumans. It also deals with analysis of animal remains for the identification of species and analysis of the distribution, their evolutionary history and the exploitation/impact of humans, with specific regard to the domestication of the dog.
