Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Academic discipline: MAT/08 Numerical Analysis

Curriculum vitae

Education

She received the Master Degree in Mathematics cum laude at the University of Bologna in 1988, with a thesis entitled: "The Biconjugate gradient methods in image restoration".

Academic carrier

She was researcher of Numerical Analysis at the University of Bologna from 1991 to 2006. Since 2006 she is Associate Professor of Numerical Analysis at the University of Bologna. She was at the Mathematics Department until 2017. Since 2018 she is at the Computer Science and Engineering Department.

Teaching activity

She taught courses of Numerical Analysis at the Degree courses in Mathematics, Computer Science, Management Informatics, Engineering, Chemistry, Bioinformatics and Geology.

She taught courses in the Mathematics Phd and in the post-graduate program of Financial Mathematics of the University of Bologna.

She has been advisor of more than 60 master thesis in Mathematics and Computer Science and of two phd thesis in Mathematics. She has been tutor of a 2-years post-doc.

Research activity

The research main focus on the analysis and implementation of optimization and regularization algorithms for the solution of inverse ill-posed problems applied to imaging. Recently, she is working on neural networks for the solution of  imaging inverse problems, such as deblurring, super-resolution, segmentation or reconstruction from sparse data.

She has been invited speaker and mini-symposia organizer at many international conferences.

She was member of the Organizing Commitee of International Conferences.

She has coordinated research groups in national research projects (PRIN and GNCS)

She is referee of international journals.

Institutional activity

She has been member of the Department Junta in 2000-2006 and of the Quality Committee for the Degree Course in Mathematics in 2015-2018.

Other activity

She is involved in scientific collaborations with many  industrial companies, such as Magneti Martelli, IMS, Cefla and others. The collaborations led to the realization of numerous master thesis and a biennial post-doc.
