Edoardo Piermattei is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Scientific Specialist in Cross-Border Civil Litigation. He also holds an adjunct teaching appointment in the academic field of Civil Procedural Law (GIUR-12/A).
He holds a PhD in Legal Sciences from the University of Bologna, where he defended his doctoral thesis, International Commercial Courts: Reshaping the Modern Era of Adjudication. His research focuses on civil procedure in its transnational and supranational dimensions, cross-border litigation, private international law, and insolvency and restructuring law.
He was a Visiting Recognised Student at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford, and has conducted research at the Bank of Italy and INSOL Europe. In 2022, he qualified for admission to the Italian Bar.
His research has received several distinctions, including the University of Bologna’s Marco Polo research grants (Calls No. 1 and No. 2/2024), the Stichting Bob Wessels Insolvency Law Collection Prize (2023), the Bank of Italy’s Donato Menichella research grant (2022), and a special mention at the Ninth OCI Prize of the Osservatorio sulle Crisi d’Impresa (2021).
