Curriculum vitae

  • 1990degree in physics at the University of Bologna with a mark of 110/110 with honours. Title of the thesis: Research on energy leak and gain in muon catalysed nuclear fusion.
  • 1994 – he was awarded the title of Doctor of Phylosophy in Physics. Title of the thesis: Spin-parity analysis of the reaction antiproton-proton → π+ π  π0 in the OBELIX experiment.
  • 1994-95 – he was granted a postdoctoral scholarship by INFN (Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics).
  • 1995 – he won a prize for his scientific activity awarded by the Italian Physical Society.
  • 1995-2002 – he worked as a researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna.
  • 1999-2005 – he has been the Italian national coordinator for the computing of the LHCb experiment at CERN.
  • 2000-2005 – he has been a member of the Executive Board of the INFN-Grid special project.
  • February 2001 – The President of INFN (Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics) appointed him member of the Project Committee for the Italian Regional Tier-1 centre.
  • November 2001 – he won a national competition for a post of associate professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Bologna.
  • 2002-2003 – he is Scientific Responsible  of a Research Unit  of a MIUR research project COFIN 2002 which involves the Universities of Bologna, Torino, Cagliari and Catania.
  • January 2002 – he was appointed associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna.
  • 2004-2009 – he is member of the Collaboration Board of the LHCb experiment at CERN.
  • Since May 2007 – he is meber of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and of the IEEE-NPSS (Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society).
  • 2009-2018 – he is the Group Leader of the Bologna INFN group of the LHCb experiment at CERN.
  • October 2009 – he is in the founder group of the INFN International School ESC (INFN International School on "Architectures, tools and methodologies for developing efficient large scale scientific computing applications"), hold yearly at the CeUB (University Residential Centre of Bertinoro) and accredited (in 2010) as "Summer School" by the Università di Bologna. He is Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee since 2009 and member of the International Scientific Committee of the following editions 20102023.
  • January 2014 – he obtains the National Scientific Qualification to function as Full Professor in Italian Universities in the competition sector 02/A1 (Experimental Physics of Fundamental Interactions).
