Short Bio

Chiara Gius is currently a Junior assistant professor at the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Bologna. She teaches Humanitarian and Social communication and Sociology of Culture.
 
Her research interests are in the areas of gender, gender-based violence, gender and migration, humanitarian and social communication, as well as multicultural communication.

She has been a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bologna and a visiting fellow at the Center for Refugee Studies at York University (CA) and the Department of Italian Studies at the University of Toronto.

Since October  2023 is the national coordination of the PRIN2022 project: "Social Representations of Cyber-violence Against Women and Girls: Advancing Knowledge on an Under-conceptualized Issue".

Her latest publications include her 2023 monograph on the life stories of Italian women who migrated to Canada ("Espatriate. Storie di donne italiane emigrate in Canada", Carocci: Roma), as well as articles and chapters about gender and communication.
