Training

After graduating in Foreign Modern Languages and Literatures (German and English) at the Catholic University of Milan with a thesis in computing linguistics on Old English texts, I attended a post-graduation programme in didactic of German language at the University of Trier (Germany), achieving the Zuzatzzertifikat Daf – Deutsch als Fremdsprache und Landeskunde.

Academic career

From 1988 to 1994 I worked as teacher of Italian language and literature at the University of Trier and at the Johannes-Gutenberg Universität of Mainz. In 1996 I became adjunct professor in Translation (German into Italian) at the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Interpreting and Translation (University of Bologna), where I specialized in comics translation, in technical and editorial translation as well as in didactic of translation teaching.

Teaching activity

Since 1996 I have been teaching various courses of the Bachelor and Master Degree programmes at the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Interpreting and Translation. I am currently teaching "Tific Translation for publishing" (within the Master's Degree in Specialized Translation) as well as "Translation from German into Italian" (within the Degree in Intercultural Language Mediation).
From 1998 dates my cooperation with the Scuola Superiore per Mediatori Linguistici of Vicenza, where I hold courses in techical-scientific and editorial translation from Germa into Italian at the Master programme.
From 2016 I also teach Portuguese language, translation and interpretation at the Bologna branch of the Scuola Carlo Bo di Milano.

Professional activity

Since 1998 I have been working as a freelance translator in the field of technical and literary translation.
For the Italian publisher Bompiani I translated, in 1997, the book “Die Ringe des Saturn. Eine englische Wallfahrt“ by the German writer W. G. Sebald.
My cooperation with the Italian publisher UTET brought me to translate German manuals about building techniques and architecture into Italian. I am the Italian translation of the Brazilian writer Caio F. Abreu, published by Quarup. Fort he same publisher I translated, in 2012, a collection of short stories by the Mozambican writer Mia Couto.
From 2001 I am a member of AITI (Italian Association for Translators and Interpreters) within which I regularly attend seminars and workshop about translating issues.
In 2005 I founded the CeLuBra, a cultural centre in Bologna for the teaching and diffusion of Portuguese and Brazilian language and culture.
