MEDICAL SCHOOL:

Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Perugia, Italy attended from October 1976 until  October 1984.

MEDICAL DEGREE:

“Diploma di laurea in Medicina  e Chirurgia” obtained on 29th October 1984  with final marks 110/110 cum laude from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Perugia.

Thesis title: “ The sensibility and specificity of laboratory methods for the determination of anti-platelet antibodies” under the supervision of Prof. G. G. Nenci, Director of the Institute of Internal Medicine and Vascular Medicine (previously known as Institute of Medical Semiotics) of the University of Perugia.

MEDICAL LICENSURE:

Certificate of full registration to practice medicine in Italy obtained from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Perugia in November 1984.

SCHOOL OF SPECIALIZATION IN  INTERNAL MEDICINE:

Attended from November 1985 to October 1990 at the University of Perugia. Italy.

DIPLOMA OF SPECIALIZATION IN INTERNAL MEDICINE:

Obtained on 30th October 1990 from the University of Perugia with final marks 50/50 cum laude after successful defence of the thesis entitled: “Potential mechanisms of heparin resistance” under the supervision of Prof. G.G. Nenci, Director of the Institute of Internal Medicine and Vascular Medicine of  the University of  Perugia.

FELLOWSHIP IN INTERNAL MEDICINE: from 1989 to 1992 at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

MASTER'S DEGREE IN HAEMOSTASIS, THROMBOSIS  AND ATHEROSCLEROSIS:

From January 1993 until December 1994 at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, with the successful defence of the thesis entitled:

“ The effect of heparin cofactors and plasma proteins on the anticoagulant activity of glycosaminoglycans in human plasma” under the supervision of Prof. Jack Hirsh, Director of Hamilton Civic Hospitals research Centre, affiliated with McMaster University, Dr. Jeffrey I. Weitz, Dr. Edward Young, Dr. Mark Hatton.

From 1.11.13 Director (acting) and from 30.12.21 confirmed  Director of  Division of Angiology and Blood Coagulation of the University of Bologna.
