Curriculum vitae

She was born in Bologna on 18 march 1973.

1992: Scientific Advanced-Level General Certificate of Education (Liceo scientifico Enrico Fermi, Bologna)

1998: 24 July 1998: Degree with honour in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the University of Bologna with a thesis performed under the supervision of Prof. Rodriguez entitled “enhanced release of indomethacin from PEGs based delivery systems".

1998: from 1/10/1998 to 30/9/2001 PhD student in Pharmaceutical Sciences, at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Bologna. The research focussed on the study of drug delivery systems and of some preparation techniques for wet granulation and microencapsulation, with particular interest in developing novel techniques. During the Ph.D. she spent four months at the University of Seville, Spain, to learn some micro-analytical techniques.

1999: Pharmacy practice qualification (University of Bologna).

2001: from 1/12/2001 to 30/09/2006 she worked as post doctoral researcher at University of Bologna with a grant sponsored by a pharmaceutical industry. The research topic was focussed on the development and characterization of delayed or prolonged released oral dosage forms, especially microparticulated systems, intended for both human and animal administration.

2002: PhD, 7/03/2002 with a thesis entitled “An investigation on pharmaceutical granulation processes”.

2006: assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Bologna

2014: Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Technology at the Department of Pharmacy and BioTechnology, University of Bologna

Teaching experiences

2006-:  Appointed Lecturer of Galenical and Technological practicals.

2011-: Processes of industrial manufacturing of medicines and Pharmaceutical Technology

Main research interests:

The research activity was carried out within the pharmaceutical-technological field on the following general topics:

· Development and the optimization of novel technologies for the preparation of solid lipid based delivery systems, with particular attention to solid lipid microparticles (SLMs), obtained by the spray congealing technique. In particular the research focuses on the formulation design and characterization of SLMs intended for oral and topical delivery.

·  Solid state characterization: Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Hot Stage Microscopy (HSM), X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD) and FT-IR were used to detect possible modifications of the physicochemical properties of the drug and/or of the carrier (formation of amorphous and/or polymorphous forms) and possible interactions between the components of the formulations. The results are useful to get information on the stability of the considered therapeutic systems.

· Development of pediatric formulations

.Drug layering and film coating in fluid bed and pan coating equipments. Preparation of modified-release (prompt and slow release) dosage forms, such as solid dispersions, tablets, granules prepared by wet and melt techniques, microspheres prepared by ionical coross-linking and spray-congealing, including the physico-chemical and technological characterisation, in vitro and in vivo release studies.

·  Preparation, characterisation and in vitro bioequivalence studies of medicated feed and medicines for veterinary use.

The research is carried out in collaboration with national and international research groups.

Autorship:

This research activity originated 68 research papers on international journals with IF, 2 book chapters and 70 communications (oral and poster presentations) to Congresses and Symposia.

From 2004, she also works as reviewer for several Journals: Drug Dev Ind Pharm, Eur J Pharm Biopharm, Eur J Pharm Sci, Int J Pharm, J Control Release, J Microencapsul, J Pharm Pharmacol, J Pharm Sci, Powder Technology and Food Research Int..
