Curriculum vitae


Dr. Barbara Cavalazzi obtained her MSc in Geology at the University of Chieti-Pescara in 1999, and her Ph. D. in Paleontology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2005. She continued her research activities at the Università di Bologna, Portland State University, Centre de Biophysique Moléculaire-CNRS, and University of Johannesburg. Since 2012 she is Assistant Professor at University of Bologna and Adjunct Professor at the University of Johannesburg. She is expert in high resolution technics applied to microbial paleontology.


2014-17: FP7-PEOPLE-2013-CIG.

2011-12: NRF, National Research Foundation grant, Sud Africa.

2008: NASA-NAI and Lewis and Clarck Found for Exploration and Field Research in Astrobiology Award of The American Philosophical Society.

2006: Exploration Fund of the Explorers Club (NY-USA) - Diversa Corporation Award for microbial science.
