  • Diplôme de Traducteur pout les langues Anglais, Français et Italien (1978-1982) Ecole de Traduction et d'Interprétation - University of Geneva, Switzerland. Main subjects: Translation techniques, International Law, Economics, International Organizations. Research paper on: Multilateral and Bilateral Aid to Developing Countries.
  • University Degree in Political Science (1983-1987), University of Catania. Main subjects: Economics, History, International Trade,International Relations. Thesis on Integrated Agricultural Development: "The Saemaul   Undong -An Integrated Rural Development Plan in South  Korea".

 

Post-graduate Education

  • Doctorate in "Languages, Cultures and Intercultural Communication - University of Bologna- Doctoral Thesis on "The roles of  the interpreter in medical encounters: a case study".

 

Emplyoment record

  • From October 1995 until 2005: part-time contract professor of  interpreting from English into Italian (both simultaneous and consecutive) at the Advanced School for Interpreters and Translator of Bologna University at Forlì.
  • January /April 1998: part-time contract professor  of simultaneous interpreting from English into Italian at the Milan Advanced School for Translators and Interpreters.
  • From October 2006: Research fellow amd teacher of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting between English and Italian at the  School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators (from October 2012 DIT, Department of Interpreting and Translation)  of Bologna University at Forlì.

 

International research projects

  • From 2009 one of SSLMIT representatives at UNITI -  University Network of Interpreter Training Institutes - a European research consortium gathering 6 graduate and post-graduate Interpreting Schools.
  • From April 2011 to October 2012 coordinator - on behalf of  SITLEC Reserach Department - of the Italian part of the European Research Project IMPLI  (Improving Police and Legal Interpreting) funded by the EU DG Justice under the Programme  "Criminal Justice" JLS/2010/JPEN/AAG.
  • From January 2013 to December 2014 particpating in the Italian research group for the European Project CO-Minor-INQUEST funded by the DG Justice of the European Union, Grant Agreement JUST/2011/JPEN/AG/2961. The project focuses on interpreting during pre-trial investigations involving vulnerable victims, in particular children.
  • From September 2015 to August 2018  member of the project leading team for the Erasmus+ project "SHIFT - Shaping Interpreters of the Future and of Today".
  • From September 2016 to August 2018 coordinator - on behalf of DIT - of the Italian part of the European Research Project CO-MINOR IN/QUEST II funded by the DG Justice of the European Union, Grant Agreement JUST/2015/JTRA/AG/EJTR/ 867.

Interpreting experience

From 1987 free-lance interpreter - both consecutive and simultaneous - in Italian, French, English and Spanish at international conferences, congresses and seminars on various topics including: banking and finance, defence, economics, education and training, environment, industrial relations, international law, IT, TLC, politics transportation.
