Alina Vlasova is a PhD candidate in Architecture and Design Cultures at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna. Her research focuses on the conservation and restoration of architectural heritage in conflict contexts and in the transition from conflict to peace. Her research interests include cultural resilience strategies, international legal protection, and sustainable approaches to the reconstruction of architectural heritage in post-conflict societies.

Education

She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture (Curriculum: Restoration Design) from the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (2018), and earned a Master's degree in Restoration and Reconstruction of Architectural Heritage from the same Academy (2022).

In 2025, she earned a Master's Degree in Engineering of Building Processes and Systems (Curriculum Historic Building Rehabilitation) from Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, with a thesis entitled "Heritage at War in the USSR. Restoration and Reconstruction of Architectural Heritage in the Soviet Union during and after World War II (1941–1955)," with a top mark of 110/110 cum laude.

Research Activities

She is currently conducting research as part of her doctoral program with a project entitled "Resilient Heritage: Towards Common Guidelines for the Protection of Architectural Heritage in Conflict-to-Peace Transition."

She has participated in international interdisciplinary workshops and projects dedicated to the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage, including those at the monastic complexes of Tatev and Havuts Tar in Armenia (2025) and the Open Laboratory at the former Casa del Fascio in Predappio (2025).

Awards and Recognitions

Winner of the "Fascinating Museology" competition (2021) in the "Museum Design Project" category with the project "The Concept of Memorial Museum Dedicated to Metropolitan Platon Levshin."
Participant in the "Drivers of Development of a Modern City" competition (2016) in the "Urban Development Project" category.
