Full professor of Applied Geology at the University of Bologna since 2011. Main field of research is applied hydrogeology and contaminant hydrogeology. The main targets of research are the study of groundwater flow systems in fractured aquifers, the monitoring and characterization of springs and the assessment of the effect of climate change against discharge. He has also been involved in research related to characterization, risk assessment and modelling of contaminated aquifers, and the evaluation of anthropic impacts on groundwater resources and groundwater dependent ecosystems
Involved in many EU-funded and national research projects and also in third-mission activities related to industrial research development and scientific support to forensic investigations on environmental crimes. Author of many papers. He is member of the International Association of Hydrogeologists. He is member of the Academy of Sciences of the Institute of Bologna
