Education

Degree in History with a specialization in Ancient Studies awarded with honors at the University of Bologna, with a thesis on the urban and monumental development of Roman cities in Dalmatia. PhD in Archaeology obtained from the same institution, with a research project focused on the Roman presence in Dalmatia and the diffusion of the Roman urban model. Academic training further enriched through postdoctoral fellowships at the Department of History and Cultures (DiSCi), with research topics including urban genesis in the Adriatic area, Roman monumentalization, and virtual reconstruction of archaeological sites on the eastern Adriatic coast.

Academic Career

Since 2019, contract professor for the course Multimedia Technologies for Archaeology at the Department of Cultural Heritage – Ravenna Campus, University of Bologna. Scientific coordinator and co-director of the Burnum Project (Croatia), active since 2014. Field director for archaeological excavations at Insula AN 6-8 in Paestum, under a concession from the Italian Ministry of Culture. Participation in numerous national and international archaeological missions, with responsibilities ranging from scientific coordination to the integration of digital technologies in archaeological research.

Teaching Activity

Teaching activity focused on digital applications in archaeological documentation, including 3D modeling, photogrammetry, topographic surveying, and GIS-based data management. Coordination of student training activities in the field, with emphasis on excavation methodology, stratigraphic recording, and digital documentation practices. Design and delivery of specialized modules on worksite safety for archaeological contexts (Module 3 – University of Bologna Prevention and Protection Service).

Other Activities

Research activity centered on the integration of archaeology and digital technologies. Collaboration with the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of the Marche Region for the digital cataloguing of archaeological finds and sites (ICCD standards) and the development of the archaeological map of the provinces of Pesaro-Urbino and Fermo.
Registered in the national list of professionals authorized by the Ministry of Culture (MIBACT) for preventive archaeological assessments (Art. 9-bis, Legislative Decree 42/2004). Certified UAV pilot (ENAC) for aerial survey operations. Technical skills include terrestrial and aerial photogrammetry, laser scanning, GNSS surveying, and 3D modeling (Blender, Metashape, ReCap), alongside advanced use of GIS platforms (QGIS) and institutional cataloguing systems such as SIGECweb.
Active involvement in research projects aimed at combining archaeological knowledge with digital representation and the enhancement of cultural heritage.
