He is a full Professor of Hydraulics at Bologna University since 2001, and teaches Hydraulics, Environmental Hydraulics, Groundwater and Contamination Processes, Uncertainty and Risk in Hydraulic Systems. His research activity focues on fluid mechanics and hydraulics, and specifically on subsurface hydrology, environmental fluid mechanics, urban hydraulics, and risk analysis of water systems. He authored 92 papers indexed on Web of Science, and was awarded in 1994 a Fulbright Scolarship at University of Arizona, Tucson. He acted as local coordinator of three EU-financed RTD projects (CARE-W, CARE-S, TRUST) and of project GS4WATER financed by Emilia-Romagna, and cooperates with several international research institutions.
