My research focuses on social interaction and educational events in everyday socialization and healthcare contexts. I study family talk and the interactive making of parenting and family roles in ordinary life events, such as mealtimes, homework, and shared reading. As a language and social interaction researcher, I adopt a video-ethnographic approach and conversation analysis to study socialisation processes and morality in ordinary family conversations. I also investigate doctor-patient interactions, including with unaccompanied foreign minors, and paediatric encounters.
