Curriculum vitae

Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering “Guglielmo Marconi” - DEI, University of Bologna. He works in the field of electrical energy conversion systems for the recharge of electric vehicles and electromagnetic modeling.

Education

He graduated with honors in Electrical Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino in March 2013.

In 2017, he received, the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering (with honors) at the Politecnico di Torino and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Electrical, Optical, Bio-Physics and Engineering (EOBE) Doctoral School of the Université Paris-Saclay.

Academic Career

From November 2021 to November 2024, he held the position of Fixed-Term Researcher (RTDB) at the Guglielmo Marconi Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (DEI) at the University of Bologna.

From 2017 to 2020, Vincenzo Cirimele was a fixed-term researcher (RTDA) at the Department of Energy “Galileo Ferraris” at the Politecnico di Torino.

Teaching Activities

Since 2021, he has been teaching Electrical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Electronics Laboratory courses for Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering courses at the Forlì campus of the University of Bologna and Electrical Engineering for the Management Engineering course at the same university.

From 2017 to 2020, he was a collaborator for the courses in Electrical Engineering and Electrical Machines and Electrical Systems at the Politecnico di Torino, conducting classrooms and laboratory exercises for various first-level degree courses.

In 2020, he held the third-level course Laboratory of Wireless Power Transfer for Electric Vehicles for the doctoral program in Electrical, Electronic, and Telecommunications Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino.

In the 2018/2019 academic year, he held the course Introduction to Electrical Engineering - Electrical Machines at the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for the degree program in Mechanical and Energy Engineering.

Scientific activity

Prof. Cirimele is the author of more than 70 scientific publications, including articles in journals and proceedings of international conferences, and co-inventor of four industrial patents.

He has collaborated and continues to collaborate on several European projects, including the FABRIC project and the MICEV project, both focused on electric mobility and, in particular, on inductive charging systems for stationary and moving electric vehicles.

He is the scientific manager of research contracts and consultancies for private sector companies.

He is currently a member of the International Electrotechnical Committee in Technical Committee 68 - Magnetic Alloys and Steels and Technical Committee 14 - Transformers.

Awards and Recognition

In 2025, he was awarded the Codes and Standards Committee Prize Paper Award by the Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Department (I&CPS) of the IEEE Industry Applications Society for his article “Critical Comparative Review of International Standards on Wireless Charging for Light-Duty Electric Vehicles,” IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, Vol. 60, No. 5, 2024.

In 2023, he was elevated to the rank of Senior Member of the IEEE.

In 2020, he was among the finalists for the Intellectual Property Awards (IPA) at Expo Dubai for his patent entitled “Magnetic gearshift system.”

In 2015, he received the “2015 Quality Award” from the doctoral program in Electronic Engineering at the School of Doctoral Studies of the Polytechnic University of Turin.

Other activities

Since June 2024, he has been a scientific consultant for ENRX GmbH.

From September 2020 to November 2021, he worked for the R&D and Innovation group at Movyon s.p.a., a company of the Autostrade per l'Italia group. He held the position of R&D Stream Specialist, i.e., technical-scientific manager of research projects related to the development of technologies for the production and management of electricity from alternative and renewable sources and technologies supporting electric mobility.

Since May 2019, he has been one of the founding partners of the start-up Enermove s.r.l., which develops, manufactures, and markets wireless charging systems for industrial electric vehicles, both stationary and in motion.
