Senior assistant professor in Economic Appraisal and Planning Evaluation (SSD ICAR/22) at the Department of Architecture of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna. Research Fellow in Economic Appraisal and Planning Evaluation from 2018 to 2020 and postdoc until 2022 at the Interateneo Department of Territorial Science, Design and Policy (DIST) of the Politecnico di Torino in the research area "Models and Procedures for Dynamic Assessments of Spatial Systems."
V.A. received her Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Development (33rd cycle) in 2021 at DIST Department of the Politecnico di Torino, with a thesis titled "Assessing the Resilience of Socio-Ecological Systems to Shape Scenarios of Territorial Transformation" and excellent cum laude evaluation. During her doctoral studies, she spent between 2018 and 2019 a visiting period in Portugal at the "Centro de Mathematica" (CMAT) and collaborated together with the "Centro de Território, Ambiente e Construção" (CTAC) of the Universidade do Minho, whereas in 2020 and 2022 collaborated with the "Information Systems, Supply Chain Management & Decision Support" Department of the NEOMA Business School in Rouen (France). She received her master's degree in 2016 in Territorial, Urban and Landscape-Environmental Planning (LM-48) with a grade of 105/110 with web reporting, Politecnico di Torinl. In 2013, she received a bachelor's degree in Territorial, Urban, Landscape and Environmental Planning (L-21) with a grade of 110/110 cum laude, Università degli studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria. The doctoral experience, the courses and workshops attended have allowed her to increase the knowledge in the field of economic and environmental assessment, maturing over the years a multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach to support decision-making in solving complex problems that involve the city and the territory today: from the family of Multicriteria Analysis (MCA) to mathematical modeling applied to landscape ecology, from Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to the construction of composite sets of indicators and indices and the construction of alternative transformation scenarios.
V.A. received the Edoardo Mollica Award as Young Researcher of the Year, "Environment, Energy, Landscape" section, as part of the New Metropolitan Perspectives 2018 Conference, with the article "Assessing the Landscape Value: An Integrated Approach to Measure the Attractiveness and Pressures of the Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont (Italy)." In 2020, she received the Outstanding Presentation Award from Creative Decisions Foundation as part of the ISAHP 2020 Virtual Conference with the article "ANPSort II method: an experimentation to assess the resilience of a Socio- Ecological System."
V.A. is currently involved in research supporting Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) procedures for plans and programs and evaluation models for strategic planning. She is the author of several papers published in national and international journals available in the Scopus and Web of Science databases.
