Keywords: Cultural processes Media and Communication Climate change Migration Qualitative research

  • I am currently working on the analysis of climate change communication in search of narrative and visual strategies that can raise awareness of different audiences on the ecological transition.

  • In recent years I have been working on symbolic bordering processes with a focus on the analysis of information campaigns aimed at potential migrants. In my recent works, I deal with public perceptions of migration processes and the media narratives that accompany them.

  • I conducted my research within the European project Perceptions: Understand the Impact of Novel Technologies, Social Media, and Perceptions in Countries Abroad on Migration Flows and the Security of the EU & Provide Validated Counter Approaches, Tools and Practices, funded by the Horizon2020 program.
The research is aimed at understanding the role of different perceptions of Europe in migration processes, through an analysis of narratives spread by media and social media, by migrant people, policymakers and first-line practitioners.

  • In the field of sociology of health, the research topics on which I work are mainly (but not exclusively) the social construction of knowledge about illness and the role of media in healthcare and their impact in the daily practice of the medical profession and within professionals/patients relationships.

  • I have conducted extensive research on media representations of medicine and the medical profession, intersecting media ethnography and reception studies.
