Curriculum vitae

Vittorio Degli-Esposti is a Full Professor with the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering (DEI) of the University of Bologna and teaches courses on Electromagnetics, Radio Propagation and Wireless Systems and Vehicular Radio Propagation.

In 2015 and 2016 he’s been on a 2-year temporary leave to join Polaris Wireless Inc., Mountain View, California, USA in the role of Director of Research. He received the "EurAAP Propagation Award 2023", the most important European award in the field of Radio Propagation.

He was a post-Doc researcher in 1998 at the Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, New York (now NYU Polytechnic) in the group led by Professor H.L. Bertoni. He held Visiting Professor Positions at Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University), and at Tongji University, Shanghai, in 2006 and 2013, respectively, where he taught courses on Deterministic propagation modeling and ray tracing.

He has been co-founder and lecturer of the Courses “Short range radio propagation: theory, models and future applications” and “Mobile Radio Propagation for 5G and beyond" of the European School of Antennas (https://www.euraap.org/esoa-courses)

Vittorio Degli-Esposti participated in several European projects including the European Cooperation Actions COST 231, 259, 273, 2100, IC1004, IRACON and INTERACT, the European Networks of Excellence NEWCOM and NEWCOM++ the European Projects ALPHA, 6G-SHINE and others. He is co-Chair del Working Group 1 "Radio Channels" of  COST "INTERACT".

He was appointed Vice-Chair of conferences EuCAP2010 and EuCAP2011.  He has been elected Chair of the Radio Propagation Board of the European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EuRAAP) in 2021. In 2013-2022 he has been  Chair of the Cesena-Forli Unit of the Inter-Department Center for Industrial Research on ICT (CIRI-ICT) of the University of Bologna.

He is author or co-author of over 160 peer-reviewed technical papers and 7 international patents in the fields of applied electromagnetics, radio propagation and wireless systems. He is Senior Member of the IEEE, Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and Associate Editor of the Journal "AGU Radio Science".
