Tina Salerno is a PhD candidate in Cybersecurity at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca and the University of Bologna (since December 1, 2023).
She currently serves as a teaching tutor for the course Digital Forensics at the University of Bologna, having previously served as academic tutor for the Master’s Programme in Data Processing and Data Protection Officer (2023–2025) under the supervision of the Master’s Director, Prof. Raffaella Brighi.
In 2025, she carried out a research period abroad as a visiting researcher at the Justice Digital Center, University of Wrocław (Poland), supported by an Erasmus+ scholarship. Her project focused on reforming intrusiveness assessment models for artificial intelligence systems used in law enforcement, integrating fundamental rights, cybersecurity, and evidentiary reliability.
She was admitted to the Italian Bar (Court of Appeal of Catanzaro) on November 4, 2022, after 18months of professional practice at Studio Legale Anania, specializing in cases of organized crime, public administration offences, and anti-mafia proceedings (Art. 416-bis of the Italian Criminal Code).
She earned a second-level Master’s degree with honors (110/110 cum laude) from San Raffaele University of Rome, with a thesis entitled “The Use of Trojan Malware in Anti-Mafia Proceedings: Evidentiary Value of Captations in the ‘Stige’ Case.”
She was awarded the AWS Scholarship at the IFOSS International Summer School in both 2024 and 2025, under the direction of Professors Giovanni Ziccardi, Sebastiano Battiato, and Donatella Curtotti, for outstanding academic merit in the intersection of law and technology.
