STEFANO ZUNARELLI
Since 1995 - Full Tenured Professor of Maritime and Transport Law at the
University of Bologna, Faculty of Law.
1998 - 2004: Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of
Bologna.
2021: Doctor Honoris Causa, Universitat, Jaume I,Castellò de la Plana, (Spain).
1985 - 2009: Representative of the Italian Government
in the Juridical Committee of International Maritime Organization
(IMO), London, as well as in Diplomatic Conferences at which
several International Conventions were adopted on Nationality of
Vessels (1986), Salvage (1989), Liability for Carriage of
Passengers by Sea (1990), Liability and Compensation for Damage in
Connection with the Carriage of Hazardous and Noxious Substances by
Sea (1996) and Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims
(1996); and of the Rotterdam Rules on the contract of carriage by sea (2009).
He is the advisor for matters connected with transport activities
and liberalisations/privatisations of the Italian Government
(Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport), as well as of some Italian regional and
local governments.
He is Director of "Il Diritto Marittimo" and member of the directive board of the reviews
“Rivista del Diritto della Navigazione”, “Diritto dei trasporti” and “Rivista Italiana di Diritto del
turismo”.
He is member of the editorial board of “Journal of
International Maritime Law”, “Revista de Derecho del Transporte”
and “European Journal of Commercial Contract Law”.
Since 2011: he is member of the Scientific Committee of Caracciolo
Foundacion (ACI-Automobil Club d'Italia).
