Curriculum vitae

Stefania Voli is a historian and sociologist. Her work focuses on gender history, feminist and transfeminist studies, trans studies, social movements, political cultures, and processes of gendered citizenship formation.

She holds a PhD in Women’s History and Gender Identities from the University of Naples “L’Orientale” and a PhD in Applied Sociology and Methodology of Social Research from the University of Milano-Bicocca. Throughout her research career, she has collaborated with national and international universities and research centres, including the University of Milano-Bicocca, the Scuola Normale Superiore, Collegio Carlo Alberto, Sciences Po – Menton Campus, and the University of Leeds.

Her research explores the relationships between gender, memory, bodies, rights, and political participation, with particular attention to the history of feminist and trans movements in Italy, LGBTQIA+ citizenship, gender-based violence, youth cultures, and archival practices from a transfeminist perspective.

She has participated in national and European research projects, including Horizon 2020 and PRIN projects. She is a member of the Roster of the Centre for Research, Analysis & Training in Child Rights at Save the Children Italy, and works as an expert evaluator for European programmes at the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), European Commission. She is also a member of the Committee of the Summer School of the Italian Society of Women Historians.

She is the author of monographs, essays, and articles published in national and international scientific journals.

Alongside her research, she teaches and provides training in universities, master’s programmes, and advanced training courses, with courses and lectures devoted to gender studies, gender history, feminisms, LGBTQIA+ rights, and the prevention of gender-based violence.
