Born in Modena, she graduated in Modern Literature in Bologna summa cum laude in 1990. She specialized in Archaeology and Art History at the University of Siena and was later awarded a doctorate at the University of Bologna (1999), where she continued to study with the benefit of research activities of two two-year research grants. She has been teaching since 1992 art history in high school for four years. In 1998, she won the competition for the art historian called by the Ministry for the artistic and environmental heritage, and from 2004 to 2006 she worked as an art historian (then Director Coordinator) at the Galleria Estense and the Superintendence for the Historical artistic center of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
She is professor of the Alma Mater since 2006: initially as a researcher; from 2011 as an associate professor. She has been licensed “Professore di Prima Fascia” (full tenured professor) by the Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca (MIUR) in 2017.
She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Galleries Estensi, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts of Modena and member of the Academy of Europe.
