  • Science of Science: quantitative and qualitative analysis of large datasets of scholarly data (citations, bibliographic metadata, social networks of scholars, etc.) for studying the structure and evolution of science, using techniques related to the Informetrics and Scientometrics domains with the support of novel semantic technologies.
  • Knowledge Management: study and application of current technologies for building large datasets of semantic data describing bibliographic citations, cultural heritage objects, and fashion design data, so as to make them available on the Web and easily accessible by means of standard query languages.
  • Document Engineering: analysis of large corpus of scholarly documents so as to identify structural, semantic, and rhetorical patterns in their content and organisation.
  • Ontology Engineering: study and application of novel ontology development methodologies as well as development of tools for facilitating the modelling of a domain according to proper languages (e.g. OWL) and for increasing ontology understanding and sense-making (e.g. browsable documentation, diagram notation, example-of-use specification).
  • Open Science Infrastructures: theoretical studies and technical implementation of tools to foster semantic interoperability of Open Science services and infrastructures.
