Our planet is facing an unprecedented ecological crisis that threatens the survival of many species. Addressing the rapid depletion of the Earth’s biocapacity requires more than technological innovation. It calls for a fundamental shift in social, cultural, political, economic and legal paradigms. In particular, legal frameworks must adapt to recognize and implement ecosystem solutions, integrating environmental concerns at their core and respecting ecological laws governing the Earth system. An ecosystem approach shall be the foundation of a new transcultural, transnational legal paradigm, one that guarantees the bio-geo-chemical basis of life on Earth.
