Teaching Activity
In the academic years 2005/2006 and 2006/2007, she served as adjunct lecturer for the course Urban and Territorial Analysis Techniques, part of the Urban Planning Laboratory at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ferrara.
Within the same context, she acted as tutor for the international workshop Floating Values. Handle with Care (Comacchio, 2007), organised in collaboration with the South China University of Technology and the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and for the summer school Development Models of Areas with a Strong Historical Identity (University of Calabria, 2007), focused on territorial enhancement and landscape design.
In the field of training and education, she collaborated with OIKOS Centro Studi Bologna and FormezPA, designing and coordinating laboratories, summer schools and advanced training programmes on urban planning, landscape, and regeneration. She has also taught and tutored in numerous university and postgraduate contexts, including collaborations with IUAV, Roma Tre University, University of Calabria, and the Italian National Institute of Urban Planning (INU).
Conferences and Seminars
She has curated and moderated national and international seminars and conferences on urban regeneration and social innovation, including #Rigeneriamole (UrbanPromo, 2014) and #UrbanForesight. Research paths for the implementation of urban regeneration strategies (ITC-CNR, 2017).
She was head of the Networking and Research Area at AUDIS – National Association of Urban Regeneration Areas (2015–2016).
In line with her current research path, in September 2024 she took part, as a speaker, in the first European Urban Initiative (EUI) Policy Lab, entitled Leveraging Culture for Positive Urban Change. The event, held in Halandri (Greece), brought together European municipalities, stakeholders, and professionals to exchange knowledge and collect evidence on practices that leverage culture and heritage as catalysts for urban transformation.
In January 2025, she organised, in collaboration with the Association of Ravenna’s Architects and the ARCI Dock 61 cultural centre, the event Ecology of Action. Territories and Climate Change, where she acted as moderator in a dialogue between Wu Ming 1, Rita Rava, Alessandro Iannucci, and Veronica Rinasti. Starting from selected readings from Gli uomini pesce, the meeting (held in Ravenna) explored, through a perspective of cultural convergence, the complexity of “landscape-making” and the ethical and symbolic dimensions of human action in shaping inhabited territories.
Action Research and Professional Experience
She began her action-research activities at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Ferrara, collaborating with Prof. Daniele Pini on projects funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region and the European Union, addressing topics such as the preservation of historic centres, urban safety, and urban economy.
Over more than twenty years of professional experience, she has worked in Italy and abroad in the fields of strategic planning, regeneration, and collaborative governance. She has collaborated with public institutions, research centres, and international organisations, including UNESCO – World Heritage Centre (2003–2006), contributing to the Safeguard Plan for the Historic City of Sana’a (Yemen) and to the Needs Map for the Conservation of Historic Monuments and Sites of the Old City of Jerusalem.
She also collaborated with the Emilia-Romagna Region (2007–2013) on the drafting of the Atlas of Landscape Assets and on the definition of guidelines for the regulation and delimitation of landscape heritage within the revision of the Regional Landscape Plan.
From 2016 to 2023, she worked with the Institute for Construction Technologies of the National Research Council (ITC-CNR) on projects concerning regeneration, innovative solutions for the built environment, and energy transition.
In recent years, her work has focused on the connection between narration, regenerative processes (including the energy transition), and poietic performances, developing complex projects funded by the European Union, such as TEMPUS – Temporary Uses as Start-up Actions to Enhance Port (In)tangible Heritage, DARE – Digital Environment for Collaborative Alliances to Regenerate Urban Ecosystems, and Energy2Act – Collaborative ENERGY TO ACTivate Communities towards Climate Neutrality.
