Samuele Luca Gould

I am a PhD student in the Department of Medical and Surgical Science but with a background in mechanical engineering. My research sits at the interface between the engineering and medicine. While interested in biomechanics generally I have until now focused on finite element, subject specific, modelling. My PhD focuses on the musculoskeletal modelling of severe scoliosis and the outcome of its treatment through surgical interventions, the hope is that the work will improve the outcome of surgical interventions when they are necessary. This work will also include the in vitro testing to validate the model.
