Professor of Gastroenterology, Department o Medical Sciences and Surgery, University of Bologna, with interest in diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract, in particular  gastro-esophageal reflux disease and complications (Barrett' esophagus), dyspepsia, H. pylori infection and precancerous conditions and lesions of the stomach.

Scientific Activity

Scientific Coordinator of the Loiano-Monghiodoro Research Project "Helicobacter pylori and related upper Gastrointestinal diseases", an endoscopic population based study carried out in the Municipalities of Loiano and Monghidoro between 2000 and in 2004 and supported by a grant from the Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna, Italy.

Scientific coordinator of multicenter national and international projects:

- Treatment of H. pylori infection in Italy: Hp-ItaReg Project.

- The  autoimmune gastritis in Italy: progetto Ag-ItaReg Project

- The International Online Barrett's Esophagus Registry: IOBER Project.

Coordinator of Italian guidelines on the management of H. pylori infection:  

- Guidelines for the management of H. pylori pylori infection in Italy: the III Working Group Consensus Report 2015. Dig Liver Dis 2015.

- Management of H. pylori infection: Guidelines of the Italian Society of Gastroenterology (SIGE) and the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED). Dig Liver Dis 2022.
