He is Teacher at the Post-graduate Schools of Digestive Diseases and Gerontology, University of Bologna.

He is Teacher at the Course "Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Metabolic diseases", School of Medicine and Surgery, University of Bologna.

 

Scientific Activity

His reasearch activity focuses on Helicobacter pylori infection, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, dyspepsia, Barrett's esophagus, gastric precancerous conditions (atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia) and lesions (dysplasia), autoimmune gastritis and gastric cancer. 

He was the Scientific Coordinator of the Loiano-Monghiodoro Project "Helicobacter pylori and upper gastrointestinal diseases", an endoscopic population-based study carried out in the Municipalities of Loiano and Monghidoro, Italy.

He is the Scientific coordinator of several multicenter national and international projects:

- Treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection in Italy, Hp-ItaReg.

- Observational prospectic multicenter study: the autoimmune gastritis in Italy, Ag-ItaReg.

- International Online Barrett's Esophagus Registry- the IOBER Project.

He was the coordinator of Guidelines for the management of H. pylori infection in Italy in 2015 and 2022 ("Guidelines for the management of H. pylori pylori infection in Italy: the III Working Group Consensus Report 2015. Dig Liver Dis 2015" e "Management of H. pylori infection: Guidelines of the Italian Society of Gastroenterology -SIGE and the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy -SIED. Dig Liver Dis 2022").  

He has published 59 papers over the last five years in peer reviewed international journals.

 

Membership in scientific societies and professional organizations 

He is member of the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED) and Italian Society of Gastroenterology (SIGE).

He was member of Scientific Board of the "XI National Conference of Digestive Diseases-FISMAD", held in 2005 in Genoa, Italy.

He was member of the Local Committee of  “XXVII th International Workshop on Helicobacter and related bacteria in chronic digestive inflammation and gastric cancer”, held in 2014 in Rome, Italy, 

He was the Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED)

He was member of the Editorial Board of "1088 press", University of Bologna.

He is member of Editorial  Board of  “Digestive Diseases ” and “ European Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology “.

 

Clinical Activity
