Research interests
Prof. Gotti is involved in the general field of pharmaceutical analysis focusing on the development, validation, and application of chromatographic and electrophoretic separation techniques also addressed to the analysis and characterization of biopharmaceuticals. Recently the research activity has expanded to paper-based microfluidics for sensing applications. He has authored over 150 scientific publications in international journals and numerous national and international conference communications (posters, oral presentations, and invited lectures).

Teaching activity
Teaching activity (since academic year 1999/2000) involves courses dealing with Pharmaceutical Analysis at the School of Pharmacy and Biotechnology; module on "Drug Analysis Methods" within the post-graduate school in Hospital Pharmacy (UniBo) and module of "Preparation and control of phytocomplexes" within the advanced training course in nutraceuticals and food supplements. Prof. Gotti has taught at Individual Teaching Program on advanced separation techniques at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Université Descartes, Paris (Master level).
