EDUCATION

16 marzo 1988 – Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bologna University, Italy ;

Prize “Albino Messieri” of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for the academic Year 1986-1987

Work activities before to enter as permanent researcher:

1988-1991: Professional assignment for the execution of bacteriological and parasitological analysis for several public local agency.

1991-1997: Laboratory technician at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – University of Bologna.

From 1 October 1997 to 06/09/2020 she was Researcher at the University of Bologna

Since 07/09/2020 She is Associate professor at the University of Bologna

Research topics

After the nomination as Researcher, her research lines are related to Veterinary mycology; Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases of animals. These include:

1) Studies on pathogenic mycetes in domestic, wild and aquatic animals, with epidemiological and zoonotic surveys and morph-physiological and molecular characterization;

2) Epidemiology, zoonotic issues and morphological/molecular characterization of parasites of domestic and wild animals

3) Development and application of “in vitro” test to assess the effectiveness of natural and synthetic drugs against mycetes and parasites;

4) Studies on parasitic and mycotic diseases of bees

Research project

Proposer and coordinator of three project grant-aided by the Bologna University :

-“Young researcher grant”, Title of the project "Researches on the presence of Cryptococcus neoformans in urban environment". Staring 21 marzo 2000 – duration 12 month

- RFO (ex 60%) E.F. 2005 - “Characterization and susceptibility at antimycotic subtances of Malassezia spp. isolated from animal and human” starting 21/12/2005 duration 24 month (note: since 2006 the RFO system was changed so it was not possible present the request for renewal for the second year, even if the investigation continued equally)

- Competitive projects for researchers grants of the Dept ov Veterinary Medical Sciences “: “Cryptosporidiosi in an equine perinatology unit: epidemiological and molecular studies- staring 1 Decemnber 2011; ending 30 may 2014

- Responsible person for UNIBO partner of the activities in Work packages 5 ,task 5.1 sub task 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.1.3 relating to “in vitro” test to evaluate the effectiveness of natural or syntetic products against Saprolegnia spp. in the European Parafish Control Project - call Horizon 2020 SFS 2014-2 starting in 2015

Member of the research groups of:

- Four project grant-aided by University of Bologna (RFO grant - From 1997 to 2004),

-Three Italian National projects (PRIN 1997; 2204; 2006),

-Three project of the “Ministero delle Politiche Agricole e Forestali” (three-year plan for fisheries and aquaculture IV and VI ;

-Three projects founded by Emilia-Romagna Region (1998; 2000; 2001),

-One European Project – (Horizon 2020 SFS 2014-2 - Parafish Control - Advanced tools and research strategies for parasite control in European farmed fish”) starting 1 April 2015.

As Researcher, she has contributed to carry out 179 publications, and in particular: 62 papers on journals, 116 papers or abstract on conference proceedings and one book chapter (see the list).

Report on invitation:

- 5 report on invitation within national congress organized by the Italian Federation of Human and Animal Mycopatology (FIMUA) and Italian Society of Parasitology (SoIPa). In particolare:

- Speaker at the training day "Essential Oils in Veterinary Medicine and Agronomy" organized by the Italian Society for Research on Essential Oils (Siroe) under the patronage of the School of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna,

Professional training

She attended to several refresher/training courses organized for the staff by University of Bologna, concerning safety, audit, and communication strategy in teaching.

Teaching activities

Since 1999 she has carried out continuous teaching activity at the Bologna University, in courses concerning Parasitology, Parasitic diseases and bee biology and diseases, obtaining positive judgments by the students.

She was supervisor of 27 graduation thesis and 10 postgraduate (specialization) thesis, and assistant supervisor of 50 graduation thesis.

- Supervisor in a PhD Thesis in the “epidemiology and control of zoonoses” program, - Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, PhD student Cristina Bonoli, 2006.

- Currently supervisor in a PhD Thesis in the “Veterinary Sciences” program, Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, PhD student: Riccardo Cabbri¸ starting 1 November 2016

External teaching

She was requested to do a few lessons about Mycology, Parasitology and Veterinary Public Health, in some refresher/training courses for veterinarians and human practitioner and for cattery or kennel operators, organized by several Public Italian Agencies or by scientific foundation.
