Renato Congedo is a Nurse Coordinator at the Local Health Authority of Romagna, working in the Haematology Unit at Santa Maria delle Croci Hospital in Ravenna. The Unit comprises an inpatient ward, Day Hospital, Day Service, and outpatient services. He also serves as the JACIE Quality Management System Coordinator for the Clinical Unit integrated into the Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Programme of the Romagna Metropolitan Network.
He has extensive experience in the organisation of care processes, human resource management, quality and patient safety, and the planning of care pathways for individuals with onco-haematological conditions, including those undergoing haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies. He previously held clinical and organisational roles in oncology, orthopaedic and trauma care, surgery, and mental health.
He holds a Master’s degree in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, where his dissertation consisted of a scoping review on the integration of Nursing Minimum Data Sets into electronic health records. He has also completed postgraduate university master’s programmes in healthcare professions management and coordination, vascular access nursing, public-sector collective bargaining and emerging technologies, counselling, and coaching.
His academic and research interests include digital health, nursing documentation, standardised nursing terminologies, Nursing Minimum Data Sets, health data interoperability, clinical governance, risk management, safety culture, organisational models, and innovative approaches to healthcare workforce management, development, and professional recognition.
He is involved in teaching, professional education, and clinical tutoring within healthcare settings. He has presented at scientific and professional events addressing digital health, patient safety, nursing research, and onco-haematological care. He is a co-author of scientific publications on transitional care models and safety culture within haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and CAR-T care pathways.
Since 2024, he has served as a Board Member of the Order of Nursing Professions of the Province of Ravenna and collaborates with the Emilia-Romagna Regional Coordination of Nursing Regulatory Bodies on initiatives related to digital health, standardised nursing terminologies, and health data governance.
