Full Professor at the University of Bologna since 2023, she carries out her research in the field of clinical psychology. Research interests are directed in particular to the different forms of pathological addiction (substance use disorders and behavioral addiction: compulsive shopping, Internet addiction, social media addiction, pathological gambling etc.), distress in adolescence and risk behaviors (binge drinking, substance abuse, self-harm) and psychopathological disorders (eating disorders). Particular interest is devoted to the study and practice of group psychotherapy and the evidence of effectiveness of analytical psychodrama.

Since 2008 to date Member of the staff of the The Psychological Support Service (SAP) for Young Adults, clinical service of the Department of Psychology, University of Bologna. The Service, in agreement with the Azienda USL of Bologna, offers free psychological consultation and individual and group psychotherapy to students enrolled at the University of Bologna and young adults up to 28 years of age living in Bologna. Since 2008 and currently, weekly coordination of group clinical case discussion, group psychotherapy, supervision of psychotherapy trainees, and research activities on the effectiveness of psychotherapy.
Since 2009, Member of the Board of CESAF (Centre for Studies and Advanced Training onSocial distress, New Consumption and Addictions). CESAF is an Interdisciplinary Research Centre of the Department of Educational Studies "G.M. Bertin", University of Bologna, whose members are university professors, researchers, professional experts from the public and private social, health and educational organisations and institutions dealing with addictions and social distress. The Centre conducts research and training in the area of preventive and rehabilitative interventions on addictions and situations of psychosocial distress.
