Piero Parchi

He carries out his research in the field of neurology, clinical neurobiology and neuropathology. His research interests are mainly focused on prion and prion-like neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., synucleinopathies). Current research projects include the study of the molecular basis of prion strains and phenotypic variability and the development and validation of biomarkers for early clinical diagnosis and prognostic evaluation . He is engaged in national and international research projects, collaborates with various National and Foreign Institutes. He has authored as first or senior author numerous publications in prestigious international journals (including Nature, Nature Medicine, Brain, Acta Neuropathologica, Alzheimer & Dementia, Annals of Neurology, PNAS, Neurology, J Neurol Neurosurg and Psychiatry, Alz Res Ther). He is a member of the Editorial board of Acta Neuropathologica.
