Research Activity

1. Risk&Reliability analysis

The main topic is relevant to Monte Carlo techniques for system and network analyses. Variance reduction techniques, sampling methods and optimization are aspects of interest. Moreover, importance measures are investigated.

Regarding other risk analysis applications, the following are considered: terroristic risks, industrial activities implying major risks, net risk and reliability analysis, dealing with the integration of risks on the territorial basis.

2. Risk comparison

Quantitative indexes are developed for comparison purposes between different risk aspects of individual life: labour, home, sport, mobility,...

3. Energy

Methodological development and application of selection criteria relevant to the Typical Meteorological Year (TMY), for environmental and energy applications. Themes like energy savings, solar energy and wind energy are considered, as the gas dispersion in atmosphere. Finally, the dynamic of primary energy penetration is deeply investigated.
