Paolo Righi graduated cum laude in
1987 under the tutorship of Prof. Antonino Fava, and got the Ph.D
degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Bologna in 1991
under the guidance of Prof. Goffredo Rosini. In 1992, after a brief
stay at the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands, he joined as a
research assistant the group of Prof. Goffredo Rosini at the
University of Bologna, working on novel tandem, domino, and
multicomponent processes, and the preparation and utilization of
bicyclo[3.2.0]heptenones for the synthesis of new versatile
building blocks. In 2002 he was appointed associate professor.
He has
been appointed twice (2004 and 2007) as the National
Representative in the IUPAC Division VIII (Chemical
Nomenclature and Structure Representation) and in 2008 he was
appointed IUPAC Fellow
The teaching activity he has done has been recognized on several
occasions by the Rector as one of the most appreciated by the
students of the Faculty/Department of Industrial Chemsitry. On several
occasions he was member of the graduation commission of the Faculty
and was member of board of professors of the Chemical Sciences
Doctorate.
He has served the following institutional tasks:
- 2008-2014: University of Bologna local coordinator for the Erasmus Mundus Master in "Advanced Spectroscopy in Chemistry" [http://www.master-asc.org/] .
- 2010-2013: Degree Programme Director for the Erasmus Mundus International Second cycle degree programme in "Advanced Spectrocospy in Chemistry"
- 2012-2018: Department Delegate for International Relations
- 2018-2021: Deputy Head of Department
- 2021-2024: Department Delegate for Teaching Activities and Services
- 2012-2024: member of the Department committee
