Clinical, Healthcare and Organisational Experience
From 1993 to 2002, she worked as a registered nurse at the Cesena Local Health Authority, primarily in the Neurosurgery Unit.
From 2002, her professional activity increasingly focused on clinical governance and risk management within the Nursing and Healthcare Professions Directorate in Cesena, with particular emphasis on the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections, Evidence-Based Practice, and patient safety.
From 2007, she progressively held positions of organisational and managerial responsibility, focusing on human resources management and professional development, healthcare service organisation, the development of innovative organisational and care delivery models, infection prevention and control, and patient safety.
Since 2016, she has held a senior healthcare professions management position at Azienda USL della Romagna. From 2016 to 2021, she served as Deputy Director of the Nursing and Healthcare Professions Directorate in Cesena, with responsibilities for human resources management and professional development, organisational and management processes, innovation in care delivery models, and patient safety.
From May 2021 to May 2023, she served as Acting Director of the Nursing and Healthcare Professions Complex Unit in Cesena and, from May to November 2023, as Director of the same Complex Unit.
From December 2023, she served as Director of the Cesena Valle Savio Health District at Azienda USL della Romagna and, from February 2025, also as Interim Director of the Rubicone Health District.
Since January 2026, she has been Executive Director of Healthcare Professions at Azienda USL della Romagna and a member of the Executive Management Team, with organisation-wide responsibility for the governance and development of healthcare professions and care delivery functions.
Teaching Experience
She has been teaching at the University of Bologna since 2014.
From the 2014–2015 to the 2023–2024 academic year, she was an Adjunct Professor in the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Nursing, teaching Introduction to Nursing Research.
Since the 2024–2025 academic year, she has been an Adjunct Professor teaching Organisational and Management Models of Care.
Scientific, Research and Innovation Activities
Her scientific and professional activity initially focused on the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections, patient safety, and Evidence-Based Practice, through participation in working groups, projects, and professional networks at both organisational and regional level in Emilia-Romagna.
She has participated in regional and organisational working groups and projects addressing case management, clinical care pathways, hospital-community continuity of care, palliative care, vascular access, and healthcare service organisation.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was a member of the Cesena Emergency Management Unit and served as organisational lead for the local COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
Since 2017, she has been a member of the planning group for the New Cesena Hospital.
In recent years, her professional and research activities have increasingly focused on organisational and governance models for healthcare professions, innovation in care delivery models, hospital-community integration, community and proximity care, and the development of community healthcare services.
Since 2023, she has participated in the organisation-wide project for Community Operations Centres (Centrali Operative Territoriali – COT) and, during her experience as Health District Director, coordinated the Cesena Interinstitutional Working Group on Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response.
Her current scientific and organisational interests particularly include healthcare professions governance and management, leadership and professional development, healthcare workforce management and development, organisational innovation, interprofessional integration, and the evaluation of healthcare quality and clinical and organisational outcomes.
Education and Executive Development
In 2007, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences (LM/SNT1) from the University of Florence.
In 2017, she completed a Second-Level University Master’s Programme in Healthcare Services Management and Executive Functions at the University of Bologna.
She is currently enrolled in the Degree Programme in Sociology at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo.
From 2023 to 2024, she participated in an SDA Bocconi executive education programme delivered at Azienda USL della Romagna and focused on the development of management, service design, and change management competencies for healthcare service and process innovations related to the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and Ministerial Decree 77/2022.
Since 2024, she has participated in the SDA Bocconi Network for Health District Directors.
In 2025, she obtained the Management Training Certificate within the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Mission 6 – Health, Component 2, Investment 2.2(c), “Development of technical-professional, digital and managerial competencies of healthcare system personnel”, awarded by the Emilia-Romagna Region.
