Nicolas Turchi is a Lecturer in Advanced Digital Design at Manchester School of Architecture, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna, Visiting Professor at Birmingham School of Architecture and Sofia University. In the past he has taught as a Teaching Fellow at the Polytechnic of Milan he was a Senior Designer at Zaha Hadid Architects, in London. Nicolas holds a Master in Architecture II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Bologna where he received the Best Thesis Award. Before joining ZHA, he worked in several international firms including Eisenman Architects, Xefirotarch - Hernan Diaz Alonso Architects, Mario Cucinella Architects and 5+1AA. Nicolas is particularly interested in emergent technologies and the way they affect the theoretical aspect of the discipline. Nicolas has also been studying the relationship between architecture and philosophy and graduated with a thesis on Time and Space in architecture, influenced by the thoughts of Henri Bergson and Edmund Husserl. His work has been widely published in some of the most prominent digital platforms and magazines, including ArchDaily, Next Top Architects, The Archiologist, GSD Platform, etc. Nicolas has been teaching Digital Media Studies at Harvard GSD, he was Patrick Schumacher’s studio teaching assistant and Greg Lynn’s Option Studio teaching assistant and is currently teaching workshops worldwide with Design Morphine. Nicolas is constantly pairing the work in the practice with a more theoretical research and academic collaborations, participating in international competitions jury, academic panels, and lectures in various institutions including the University of Bologna and A&M Texas University.
