Dissertation topics suggested by the teacher.
Thesis are offered in the field of:
1) ocean predictions
This topic is articulated into three potential sub-topics:
1.a data assimilation, or the development and application of techniques for best estimates of the ocean circulation from observations and numerical models;
1.b understanding of model uncertainties and improvement of ocean modelling
1.c analysis of forecast quality, development of quality indicators
This topic is done in collaboration with the Centro Euro Mediterraneao sui Cambiamenti Climatici.
2) Studies of the Mediterranean Sea circulation, sea level, air-sea interaction physics and long term climate variability
This topic uses all possible sources of data, observations and models, to understand the Mediterranean Sea general circulation and its climate variability.
3) Fundamental studies of the mesoscale/submesoscale dynamics in the global ocean by means of high resolution modelling
4) Fundamental studies of oil pollution at sea and risk mapping
5) Development of limited area modelling and forecasting with structured and unstructured grids
