BIOGRAPHY
After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, I worked as an artist with Paolo Ghezzi, under the name ANTONELLO GHEZZI, a duo we founded in 2009.
Our research focuses on lightness and magic.
The projects that have seen us exhibit in many parts of the world and at a wide variety of institutions attempt to make fairy tales tangible. A door that opens only when you smile, soap bubbles that tear down walls, small sculptures between lovers, starry skies of the future. Stairs, clouds, and blue traffic lights that—thanks to Gianni Rodari—give us the green light to fly.
Our installations and performances are in numerous private collections and have been exhibited in Italian and international contexts, including: Museo Plaza Cielo Tierra in Córdoba (Argentina), the Italian Cultural Institute in Santiago, Chile, the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid, the Italian Embassy in Athens, WhiteSpaceBlackBox in Neuchâtel, Kunsthall in Bergen, Beit Beirut, Wayfarers in Brooklyn in New York, the European Parliament in Brussels, Gnration in Braga, Portugal, Museum for the Memory of Ustica in Bologna, Miasto Ogródow in Katowice, Palazzina dei Bagni Misteriosi in Milan, Artbab Manama in Bahrain, Sound Design Festival in Hamamatsu, Japan, the Italian Cultural Institute in Athens, Art Foundation in Athens, Museo Davia Bargellini in Bologna, Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires, Pinacoteca Nazionale in Bologna, Museo di Villa Croce in Genoa, the Moscow Biennale, Pitti Uomo in Florence, Sarajevo Winter Festival, Blik Opener in Delft, Arsenale in Verona, and CIFF in Copenhagen.
In 2022, we won the Contemporary Art Plan promoted by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity by having their Milky Way flag acquired as a permanent artwork by the Rocca dei Bentivoglio Foundation.
