PhD student, since March 2023, in Agricultural, Environmental and Food Sciences and Technologies (STAAA) of the 38th cycle at the Department of Agro-Food Sciences and Technologies (DISTAL) of the University of Bologna. He carries out his research in the field of Precision Orchard Management (POM). The research interests are aimed in particular at strategies and processes useful for improving fruit production and management throughout the supply chain. He currently focuses his research on the topic of computer vision applications in the tree fruit sector.
Academic career
(August 2022 - February 2023)
Scholarship holder at the DISTAL of the University of Bologna. Main research activities: i) Development of an artificial vision system useful for estimating fruit temperature in orchards, within the European project "Sunburn and HEat Prediction in canopies for Evolving a warning Tech solution" (SHEET), ii) Improvement of orchard thinning by implementing an artificial vision system on board a remotely piloted aircraft, iii) development of artificial vision systems for the sizing and quali-, quantitative evaluation of fruits both in pre- and post-harvest.
