Dr. Michele Di Foggia's main research field concerns the chemical-physical and biochemical characterization of biomaterials used as prosthetic materials. The most used analysis techniques in these studies are IR and Raman vibrational spectroscopies, coupled with other spectroscopic techniques (SERS, UV-VIS) and thermal analysis (DSC and TGA).This research theme has been developed in collaboration with important national (CNR, Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, University of Padua) and international (CSIC in Spain) research institutes.

Other research interests of Dr. Michele Di Foggia deals with the spectroscopic characterization of materials from cultural heritage (collaboration with the Restoration course of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna) and from agricultural and food sciences (international collaboration with the Autonomous University of Madrid).
