ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

● 2010 – BA in Drama, Art and Music Studies at Università di Bologna (110/110 cum laude).

● 2013 – MA in Cinema, Television and Multimedia Production at Università di Bologna (110/110 cum laude).

● 2019 – PhD in Film Studies at Northumbria University, with the thesis Sanguisughe Sexy: Vampires in Italian Genre Cinema between 1956 and 1975.

 ● 10/11/2015 – I gave the keynote speech This Machine Kills Fascists: Lav Diaz’s Digital Cinema at the international symposium ‘Everyday Struggle, Struggle Every Day: the Cinema of Lav Diaz’, organised in Antwerp by Universiteit Antwerpen and Vlaamse Dienst voor Filmcultuur.

● 14/04/2016 – I presented the paper A Matter of Adaptation: the Transnational Vampire and the Italian Economic Boom at the University of Reading, as part of BAFTSS Conference 2016 - Trans/media: Trans/national Screen.

● 04/03/2017 – I presented the paper Freedom Is a Long Shot: Lav Diaz and the Never-Ending Struggle of the Native Intellectual at the University of Westminster, as part of the international symposium ‘Lav Diaz: Journeys’ organised by the Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM).

● 27/11/2019 – I presented the paper La censura preventiva e il cinema horror italiano (1956-1973): un occhio al buon costume e uno al botteghino at Università degli Studi di Milano, as part of the international symposium ‘Comizi d’amore: Cinema and the Question of Sex in Italy (1948-1978)’.

● 30/10/2020 – I presented the paper Vatican Vetoes Vampires: the Vatican Censorship and Vampire Cinema (1957-1974) at the 5th Vampire Academic Conference (online edition), organised by the State College of Florida.

● 28/01/2021 – I presented the paper The Reception of Wolfram Paulus’s Films in Late-1980s and Early-1990s Italy at the international symposium ‘Wolfram Paulus, Filmemacher’ (online edition), organised by Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg and Universität Mozarteum Salzburg. 

● 01/06/2022 – I presented the paper The Italian Army versus Guido Aristarco and Renzo Renzi: Public and Private Aspects of the ‘L’armata s’agapò’ Case at the American Association for Italian Studies Conference 2022, held at Università di Bologna.

● 29/09/2022 – I co-organized the academic workshop ‘Per una storia privata della critica cinematografica italiana: metodi e strumenti per la ricerca’ at the Department of the Arts of Università di Bologna.

● 07/11/2022 – I co-organized a free screening of Aldo Vergano’s film Il sole sorge ancora / Outcry (1946) at DAMSLab in Bologna, as part of the film cycle ‘Fuori Ruolo - Slittamenti creativi nel cinema italiano’ (a project financed by the Italian Ministry of Culture).

● 05/12/2024 – I presented the paper Jovanka e le altre’, la resistenza titina dalla pagina allo schermo (1959-1960) at the conference ‘La Resistenza delle immagini. 80 anni di cinema e Resistenza’, organised in Turin by the National Film Archive of the Resistance.

● 07/05/2025 – I presented the paper Renato Polselli’s ‘Delirio caldo’ / ‘Delirium’ (1972): a Giallo between Italy, USA and Vietnam at the online conference ‘You Are the Killer: the Giallo Tradition of Romance, Violence, Hedonism and Bad Taste’, organised by the University of Porto.
