Melania Marano

Short Bio

Melania Marano is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Alma Mater Studiorum-University of Bologna. She was a Research Fellow at the same department from 2020 to 2026.

Her research focuses on the application of digital technologies to archaeological heritage, with particular emphasis in GIS-based data management and 3D documentation, as well as on Phoenician and Punic Archaeology, with specific interests in Domestic Archaeology, the Archaeology of Production, and ancient foodways.

Since 2010, she has been a member of several research teams at the Department of Cultural Heritage involved in archaeological fieldwork projects in Sardinia, where she has served as excavation area responsible and topographic survey coordinator.

Since 2020, she has been collaborating in the organisation and implementation of laboratory classes for students enrolled in the Master's Degree in History, preservation and enhancement of artistic and archaeological heritage and landscape.

Since June 2023, she has been certified as an UAS Pilot (A1-A3 categories) and, since March 2026, she has been working as a professional archaeologist.
